Prelude
So, as many of you may have noticed, we've built ourselves sort of a funny little site, haven't we? Our mongrels are hardly what you'd consider "pack animals," and in fact almost seem a group that would cause quite a stir in a normal pack, if they would last long in it at all.
So, the question remains as to what holds the Guild together? It certainly isn't a strong leader, as it has become quite obvious to most of you that there really isn't one present. The wolves here actually seem abhorrent to following an alpha, or living in that sort of structure, which is what makes the guild special. So, again, what holds these wolves together?
The answer, it seems, is Honor. The Guild's wolves have taken an Oath, and have sworn to be honorable, chivalrous, and true. They're rough, they're ugly, and sometimes they can be downright unpleasant, but they've all got a strong sense of honor, and adhere to a sort of code.
Symbols of Honor
Blacktalon is a site/organization big on symbols, such as our logo, which we use pretty consistently wherever we go. Other symbols include those for our wolves. Below is the crest of a wolf a few of you have met on another site, Leon.
Leon is Agro's older brother, one of many siblings the Meister has around the world. While his family has no crest of its own, each member does (or will, as they are introduced). Crests are often the signs of noble houses or knights, which I thought fit our wolves really well.
SO HERE'S THE CONTEST!!!
For this event I'm asking each of you to design a crest, banner, or symbol for your wolf. Try to capture the personality of your wolf, their history, or a moment in their history. You don't have to use a shield if you don't want to - it can be a flag, scroll, or whatever you think of. It doesn't have to be incredibly elaborate - Some crests are merely bands of colors, or a phrase - but it should capture the spirit of your character.
Rules:
1. You cannot take the crest of another and use it as your own. You may, however, use stock images, such as the shield outline, symbols, and vectors you need. If they are copyrighted, give credit or do not use. Use your best descretion there.
2. If your image is very large it will be resized by me before the contest voting. Try to keep it a square 300 pixels or fewer.
3. One entry per character.
4. Late entries will not be excepted. Rules, deadlines, and regulations can change without notice at the descretion of the admin. Deadlines will not be moved foreward, but may be pushed back according to the needs of the site.
Submission:
Before the contest deadline listed below, please send your image via private message to Feros Ferio for consideration. Include with your crest a very BRIEF description, summarizing the highlights and details you consider most important in your entry. Once submitted, you can ask for an opportunity to resubmit your work before the deadline, but cannot ask for feedback from the admin before the end of the contest.
Selection of a Winner:
You will be choosing the best design via a voting page. Voting will last for three days after the entries are posted, and then a winner will be announced. If there is a tie, a second round of voting, lasting 24 hours, will serve as a run-off between the two until a winner is selected. If necessary the admin will break a tie.
Prizes:
Alright, we don't do stuff like this for prizes, but I like to give them out when I can. There will only be a first-place winner, no runner-ups.
1. Your design will be featured under the "Site News" section of our page for everyone to see!
2. You will gain a special contest-only talent:
(This does not take away one of your already selected talents, and cannot be selected by another when designing a character - it has to be earned!!)
3. Your achievement will be highlighted on our WolfQuest thread.
Not the best prizes, but hey, it's just for fun. ^_^'
